This is a narrative choreography; in Odissi this genre is called “Abhinaya” which means to carry forward the meaning of a text. The choreography is based on a poem from the “Gita-Govinda” a collection by the medieval poet Jayadeva. During springtime, Krishna plays his flute and the air is filled with the mood of love, the season seems endless for separated lovers. The trees and flowers are blossoming, the tender wind blows and the air is filled with the sound of birds and bees. Radha wanders in the forest and searches for her lover Krishna.
